Sport Specific Information

When and where did you begin this sport? She began fencing at age eight. She started training seriously at age 10 in Kurchatov, Russian Federation.

Why this sport? A fencing coach came to her school and recommended that she take up the sport. "I had a choice - to begin either fencing or rhythmic gymnastics. At that time I had no idea of what foil fencing was. I went there for company with a classmate, and thought to myself, 'I'll go to a couple of training sessions out of curiosity, and then I'll switch to gymnastics'. But it happened that I never got to gymnastics again."

Other information SPORTS FRIENDSHIP
She is close to fellow Russian international foil fencer Anastasiia Ivanova. "Some people say that there is no friendship in sports. But I always said that we should be able to differentiate between sport and friendship. I have a friend, Nastya [Anastasiia] Ivanova. I trust her, she will always help me, and I will help her. I can consider her a full-fledged friend, because our friendship has lasted quite a lot of time - it has been tested over the years. Certainly, everything happened in our relationship, but that didn't make our friendship any worse. Although I often encounter her on the piste - sometimes I defeat her, sometimes she wins. But I repeat, it is necessary to distinguish between sport and ordinary life." (cska.ru, 06 Jun 2019)

She has served as a member of the International Fencing Federation [FIE] Athletes' Commission. (fie.org, 01 Jun 2019)
